Core Values
1. RELATIONSHIPS (Rom. 12:9-21; 14:1-23; 15:1-3; 16:17; Eph. 4:1-3)
We believe that genuine love and caring relationships are key to life and ministry. Every person, Christian or non-Christian, is valuable to God. Because they are eternal, we must love them with God's love and care for them with His compassion. We can look past their present behavior because of our burden for their eternal welfare. The kingdom of God advances best through relationship.
2. ACCOUNTABILITY (Matt. 12:36; Luke 12:48; Rom. 14:12)
We believe that every member should commit to a lifestyle of consistent spiritual growth with honest accountability. The purpose of accountability is to protect us and help us succeed, because we all have "blind spots" and "weak areas". We believe that discipleship through small groups, honesty, transparency and accountability are critical to really maturing in the Christian life.
3. INTEGRITY (Ps. 15:1-5; 78:72; I Tim. 3:1-15)
We believe the foundation of a fruitful and lasting ministry is "integrity". Keeping promises. Telling the truth. Doing what's right at all costs. However you define the word "integrity," we think you'll agree it's a commodity in short supply in our world. Therefore, we are very open and accountable to insure that the foundation of integrity undergirds all we do at Calvary.
4. EXCELLENCE (Dan. 5:12; Col. 3:17, 23)
We believe that God is worthy of our very best. Therefore, a growing spirit of excellence surrounds everything we are and all we do. There is no greater cause than to serve the King of Kings! He deserves our very best.
5. TRAINING (Eph. 4:11-16; 2 Tim. 2:2)
We believe that every Christian is a minister according to the Bible. As a result, we want to encourage and acknowledge ministry from every member of Calvary. That starts by training and coaching believers to do the work of the ministry. We try to find practical ways to enable that to happen. Therefore, the main ministry of our staff is to train and coach our members to minister to others.
6. SPIRITUAL GIFTS (Rom. 12:1-8; I Cor. 12 & 14; Eph. 4:11; I Pet. 4:10)
We believe that every member is a minister who has been given spiritual gifts to be discovered, developed and deployed in serving others. There are no unimportant people or gifts or jobs in the church. As each person finds their place and begins serving by using their gift the church will be healthy and grow as God desires.
7. TEAMWORK (Ps. 133:1; Eccl. 4:9-12; Eph. 4:11-16; I Pet. 2:4-9)
We believe that it's not enough to simply "GO" to church, but we must "BE" the church. This is God's design for effective ministry. If we are going to fulfill the Great Commission, everyone must realize his or her importance. We are the body of Christ and we must work together just like our natural bodies. The more people that take ownership of the ministry, the stronger and more effective a church becomes.
8. OUTREACH (Matt. 25:31-46; 28:18-20)
We believe that the most effective evangelism happens through people reaching out to people and by people inviting people. The greatest opportunity for evangelism is for all of us to reach out to our unsaved and unchurched friends and family members. It is not enough to tell people about the love of God - we must demonstrate God's love to them.
9. RELEVANCE (Matt. 25:31-46; 28:18-20)
We believe that a simple presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in relevant and creative ways will impact and transform many lives. People aren't tired of the Gospel; they are tired of irrelevant, powerless and watered-down presentations of the Gospel. The Gospel is Good News. It is powerful. When the Gospel is presented with annointing and relevance, the Holy Spirit moves to save the lost, heal the sick, set the captives free, restore marriages, and give hope to everyone.
10. OPTIMISM (Eph. 4:29; Phil. 4:8)
We believe that every Christian should be optimistic about life. The word "gospel" means "good news". We have something to get excited about, something worth sharing with all the world. Success in life is acheived by those who know that all things are possible with God. At Calvary we believe that we can be who God created us to be and do all God has purposed for us to do.
11. NETWORKING ( Ps. 133:1; Eccl. 4:9-12; Luke 5:12)
We believe that the Kingdom of God advances best through networking with other churches and ministries. God has not only called us to fellowship together, but to also work together. As a result, we have joined with Harvest Churches, Int'l. This provides spiritual oversight, covering, protection and accountability that we all need. We can accomplish so much more together than we can independently.
